The International Data Corporation (IDC) has published the latest statistics on the global wearables market: smart watches, physical activity trackers, smart glasses, audio devices and other gadgets are taken into account.

According to the results of the fourth quarter of last year, the total shipment of such products reached 171.0 million pieces. This is an increase of 10.8% compared to the result of the last quarter of 2020, when 154.3 million units were shipped. According to analysts, this set a new record.
Leading the way is Apple, which controls more than a third of the global industry – 34.9%. In second place, far behind, is Xiaomi: the company’s result was 8.6%. Samsung closes the top 3 with an indicator of 7.9%. Also in the top five were Huawei and Imagine Marketing — 6.7% and 5.4%, respectively. All other providers together make up 36.6% of the industry.

The annual market volume reached 533.6 million pieces. That’s 20.0% more than in 2020, when 444.7 million units were shipped. The top five vendors are as follows: Apple, Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei, and Imagine Marketing with shares of 30.3%, 10.2%, 9.0%, 8.0%, and 5.0%, respectively.
