Canalys has summarized the results of the study on the global market for PCs and tablets in the first quarter of this year. It is reported that shipments of devices have slightly decreased.
Between January and March inclusive, 118.6 million PCs and tablets were sold worldwide. That’s down 2.9% from the first quarter of 2021, when 122.1 million units were shipped.
Despite the drop, analysts say sales remain well above pre-pandemic levels. The CAGR (compound annual growth rate) has been 12% since the first quarter of 2019.
The global leader in the PC and tablet industry combined is Apple with a share of around 18.8%. Lenovo comes second with 17.8% and HP closes the top 3 with 13.4%. Dell and Samsung follow with 11.7% and 7.4% respectively. All other providers together control 31.0% of the market.
