The cost of GeForce RTX 30-series and Radeon RX 6000 graphics accelerators has come down significantly lately, according to the latest graphics card price analysis in Germany and Austria, prepared by 3DCenter.org. The average price of AMD graphics cards has almost returned to January 2021 levels, while the cost of NVIDIA models has fallen to July of the same year.
On average, GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards are now sold 57% above the recommended price in the German and Austrian markets. The premium is down 20 percentage points from the previous month when it was 77%. At the same time, the prices for Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards are now 45% higher than the average recommended. Compared to the previous month, the margin has decreased by 18 points. In January, it averaged 63% above recommended prices.
The latest data also reports a price drop for entry-level Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics cards. This accelerator has fallen in price by an average of 26 percentage points compared to January. In addition to the graphics card prices, the graphics 3DCenter.org also reflects the dynamics of price fluctuations for the popular cryptocurrency Ethereum (marked in yellow) and the availability of video cards for sale (blue dotted line).
Unfortunately, some models of graphics accelerators are still sold at grossly inflated prices. For example, the cost of the GeForce RTX 3090 is more than 2300 euros in most cases. In this case, the choice in favor of the Radeon RX 6900 XT looks much more attractive, because the graphics card can be purchased for “only” 1400 euros.
