The fourth generation iPhone SE will have the same battery as the iPhone 14

resource MacRumors shared new data about the upcoming fourth generation iPhone SE smartphone, which is expected to be released in the foreseeable future. According to current data, the iPhone SE‌ 4, known by the identifier D59, will be equipped with the same battery as the iPhone 14.

This is confirmed by leaked internal design documentation as well as partially assembled prototypes of the next-generation iPhone SE, which is equipped with lithium-ion batteries labeled A2863 and with a capacity of 3279 mAh. For comparison: the third generation iPhone SE has a battery capacity of only 2018 mAh.

While Apple is rumored to have developed new batteries for the iPhone 16 Pro with improved thermal performance, the fourth-generation iPhone SE smartphones will rely on existing batteries due to cost constraints. The fact is that developing new components for the new iPhone SE involves additional research and development costs, and the use of existing batteries will help keep the price cheaper compared to other Apple models. Apple followed this approach with previous generations of the iPhone SE. For example, the second generation iPhone SE used the same battery as the iPhone 8.

At the same time, the resource MacRumors noted that this is preliminary information and although an A2863 battery is installed in the prototypes of the next iPhone SE, Apple’s plans could change at any time, especially since the release of the device is still quite far away.

In addition to a larger battery, the fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to feature a new design based on the iPhone 14, as well as a USB-C port and an action button.
