At the end of the video, which thanks fans for 30 years together, something similar to the Mortal Kombat 12 teaser appears. “A big THANK YOU from us and a (not-so-subtle) hint of what’s to come”— intrigue Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon.
Said teaser is a 9-second look at the hourglass from the inside. The last of the sand grains falling from above is shown in close-up before exploding, completely splitting open.
Exactly what that means – a reference to the franchise’s plot development, a teaser of the multiverse, a metaphor for the end of the wait, or something else – is unclear, but Mortal Kombat fans definitely fascinated and speculated already.
It’s officially known that the next game in the series will be Mortal Kombat 12. As part of February’s financial report, Warner Bros. CEO confirmed discovery David Zaslav.
Then the manager mentioned that Mortal Kombat 12 is the current year release along with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (it was pushed back to 2024 a few months later).
From rumoursA full-fledged Mortal Kombat 12 announcement could come as part of an officially unconfirmed one May Presentation of the PlayStation Showcaseand the game’s premiere is expected in September.
