What can you do to achieve a record speedrun time? For example, in Larian Studios’ fantasy RPG Baldur’s Gate 3, fans must mock the corpse of an allied character. But first things first.
The night before, the American streamer installed ImTaiyl world record the speed of passing Baldur’s Gate is 3 – 3 minutes and 57 seconds (excluding downloads), – 18 seconds ahead of the closest pursuer opposite Mae.
A significant time improvement compared to the first recordings (around 10 minutes) was achieved through a new trick called shadowboxing, which takes players straight to the end of Act II.
The trick is to kill the priestess Shadowheart and place her corpse in a box – not an easy one, but definitely set it on fire. After that, the container with the body needs to be moved to a specific area on the screen.
Due to the manipulations described, for reasons unknown, the game takes the user to the end of the second act, where it is possible to unlock one of the endings of Baldur’s Gate 3 (although far from the best).
In the near future, speedrunners will continue to improve Baldur’s Gate 3’s speedrunning times by refining the use of shadowboxing. It’s also possible that Larian wants to fix such a serious bug.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is already available on PC (Steam, GOG), will be released on September 6th on macOS and PS5 and will be released on Xbox Series X and S at the end of November. The bug also caused an excessive level of companionship in the game.
