The EU is preparing an antitrust investigation against Microsoft because of the Teams service

The EU antitrust authorities are about to open an investigation against the US company Microsoft for abuse of market power, which is used to promote video telephony and collaboration services Teams. This was reported by Politico, citing sources close to the matter.

According to the publication, European Union authorities suspect Microsoft of receiving unfair advantages in promoting Teams along with the widely used Office suite of applications. According to the publication’s interlocutors, the European Commission intends to launch an investigation soon and is already preparing an official statement with allegations of violation of the rules of fair competition against an American company.

The representative of the European Commission in a conversation with journalists Politico pointed out “Complaint pending”. Microsoft did not respond to a request for comment.
