The main topic of the stream was the soundtrack of the updated version. First, the developers talked about it healthy occlusion — Audio volume control depending on the obstacle on the way from its source.

Next, EA Motive listened to how the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle sound changed compared to the original Dead Space. In the remake, the sound of each barrel has multiple layers.

The team paid special attention to the ALIVE system, which controls Isaac’s breathing and heart rate. The sounds of tension (kick or hand) now interrupt the protagonist’s breathing and are not overlaid.

The way the hero breathes and speaks in the remake (there were three options for each line) is affected by several factors, including remaining health and the level of exhaustion.

Finally, the developers showed two minutes of gameplay of the early version of Dead Space remake (the video is attached below) where all the sound improvements come together.

Dead Space is being remade for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S. As VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb predicted, the release is actually expected in early 2023. The game is currently in the pre-alpha phase.
