The creators of the film The Exorcist of the Vatican adopted the emblem from Dragon Age: Inquisition as a symbol of the Spanish Inquisition

Seems inspired “real facts” The feature film The Exorcist of the Pope, starring actor Russell Crowe, doesn’t really agree with the real story. At least its creators turned out to be big fans of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

In the film, Crow’s character – the real-life priest Gabriel Amorth, who was the Vatican’s chief exorcist – learns something chilling about the founder of the Spanish Inquisition, but the image from BioWare’s fantasy RPG is used as a symbol of the famous organization in the picture.

The Inquisition in Dragon Age: Inquisition is a faction led by the player to eradicate evil from the lands of Theda. The symbol of union is an eye with a sword, referring to the constellations Vizus and Eudex. The emblem is present on armor, flags, and other in-game items.

In addition to appearing in Dragon Age: Inquisition and related merchandise, this logo can also be seen if you search Google for “symbol of the Inquisition”. In the English version of the search engine, the emblem of the game Inquisition comes first, ahead of the Spanish one. Perhaps this confused the creators of the Vatican Exorcist.

How exactly the game symbol got into a relatively serious film, history is silent. portal kotaku believes filmmakers’ oversight is to blame PC gamer I want to believe in the best: “Certainly this is the work of a clever set designer.”.

Be that as it may, the lines between reality and fiction continue to blur and fragments of real European history are replaced by elements of fantasy. The Vatican Exorcist received mixed reviews but has already earned a sequel ($66 million in fees on a budget of $18).

As for Dragon Age, Dragon Age: Inquisition released in 2014 is still the latest game in the series. The next installment, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, is currently in development but won’t be available until April 2024, according to publisher Electronic Arts’ latest financial report.
