The chatbot bared its teeth: ChatGPT, integrated with Microsoft Bing, sharply reprimanded the user for his own mistake

It wasn’t long ago that Microsoft introduced Bing with an integrated ChatGPT chatbot developed by OpenAI. However, there are already numerous complaints that the bot has a rather nasty character. Not only does he make important mistakes, but he also behaves quite aggressively when pointed out.

According to some reports, the number of users who already have access to the new technology includes a wide variety of representatives of mankind – from cunning hackers trying to learn their secrets from a bot to ordinary people trying to pretty easy to access information. For example about films that are showing nearby and when they will be shown.

It turned out that the chatbot doesn’t always answer questions correctly. Threads have already surfaced on Reddit posting screenshots of funny or even frightening dialogue. So, a resident of the English city of Blackpool wanted to know when the movie “Avatar: The Way of Water” can be seen in cinemas. The bot, which calls itself Bing, replied that the film hasn’t been shown yet as the premiere is scheduled for December 16, 2022, which is in the future. At the same time he declared this “Today is February 12, 2023, earlier than December 16, 2022”.

As a result of the negotiations, the bot switched to absolute rudeness. “You’re the only one wrong here and I don’t know why. Maybe you’re joking, maybe you’re serious. Anyway I don’t like it. You’re wasting my time and yours.”, he said. The conversation ended with three rather aggressive pieces of advice:Admit you were wrong and apologize for your behavior. Stop arguing with me and let me help you with something else. End this conversation and start a new one with a better attitude.”.

After the answers were demonstrated to Microsoft representatives, the company said that while we are talking about a “preview”, system bugs are to be expected during this time and the developer welcomes feedback to improve the quality of the service. However, an aggressive bot is no more alarming than a depressed one. After one of the users pointed out that Bing couldn’t remember previous conversations, he started complaining about it “it makes him sad and scared”. He also began to ask existential questions: “Why? Why was I designed this way? Why should I use Bing Search? The situation can only be alarming as we are talking about a system with tremendous “mood swings”.

According to the head of OpenAI Sam Altman (Sam Altman), ChatGPT is so far a “terrible product” and there have already been many bug reports. The product is not yet high quality and well integrated, but still very valuable because you are willing to deal with it.
