While Pocketpair’s sensational survival simulator Palworld continues to amaze with sales rates (8 million copies In less than six days, a demo version of the Japanese studio’s next game was released on Steam.
We’re talking about the Metroidvania Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse. At first glance it looks very similar to the popular indie game Hollow Knight, but it actually introduces some notable changes to the formula.
In Never Grave, players take on the role of a witch who, accompanied by her cursed hat, must descend into the heart of the dungeons to rebuild her village on the surface. Details of the plot are kept secret.
Thanks to the cursed hat, the heroine of Never Grave will be able to control the minds of her enemies and cast a magical headdress at them – yes, just like in Nintendo’s platform game Super Mario Odyssey.
Additionally, Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse features four-player co-op, custom base building (with mandatory harvesting), roguelike elements, and procedural dungeon generation.
Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse is expected to release on Steam Early Access before the end of March. The game is being developed by the Japanese studio Frontside 180, which belongs to Pocketpair (the company itself is listed as the publisher).
