Telegram will change the slogan – the messenger will no longer be “free forever”.

In anticipation of the very probable launch of a premium subscription, the Telegram messenger has decided to change its marketing policy: the slogan “free forever” is replaced with a slimmer wording for free unlimited cloud storage and chat. The application researcher Alessandro Paluzzi noticed this.

The official Telegram mobile client, when first launched after installation, shows a series of slides in English, which state, among other things: Telegram is free forever. Without advertisement. No subscription fee”. However, as previously reported, the service is still expanding the monetization program and adding a subscription to advertising – although it’s known that it will feature exclusive stickers and reactions. Now slides with new content have been found in the code of the future version of the application: the service no longer promises to remain “free forever”.

Alessandro Paluzzi answered chirpthat in the section with translations for client applications of the messenger, the old text of the slide has been changed to the new one: “Telegram offers free unlimited cloud storage for chats and media files”. Nothing has been said about the premium subscription yet, but it is very likely that such changes will be caused by it.

It is still difficult to say when the updated slogan will appear in the application release – maybe together with the subscription announcement, but with the current version (8.7.4) of the client for Android, the old version of the slide is still on the way .
