According to judge Alexander de Moraes, who made the decision to block the messenger, the service has now already met some requirements and if they are fully met within 24 hours, there will be no blocking of Telegram in Brazil.
Instructions to the Telegram service include:
- Appointment of an official representative of the messenger in the country – a legal entity or a natural person;
- providing data to the court to combat disinformation on the platform;
- Removal from the official channel of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro (Jair Bolsonaro) links to documents related to the secrecy of the investigation.
The messenger has already carried out the last order, as reported by Globo. The administration of the service also reported to the authorities on the measures taken to comply with the court’s earlier requests.
As a reminder, the day before, Judge Moraes ruled to ban Telegram in Brazil for systematically violating the country’s laws and refusing to fight misinformation at the request of local authorities. The creator and head of the service, Pavel Durov, replied that the incident was caused by a malfunction in the messenger’s corporate email and asked for additional time to comply with court requirements.
