Bethesda Game Studios CEO and Executive Producer Todd Howard in a recent interview IGN shared additional details about the ambitious space RPG Starfield.
Keep in mind that the events of Starfield will unfold in the year 2330. According to the plot, the main character will join the research organization “Constellation” and study the most remote corners of the assimilated systems.
According to Howard, the plot of Starfield is related to the search for artifacts from “Old Earth”. The main quest will last about 20% longer than in Skyrim and Fallout 4, lasting 30-40 hours (excluding third-party content).
Starfield promises the ability to explore more than 1,000 planets. The authors actively use procedural generation, but also created a lot of content manually (more than in any other Bethesda game), including over 200,000 lines of dialogue.
Ship management in Starfield is carried out in the manner of FTL (with the diversion of resources to different systems). When creating space battles, the developers were inspired by MechWarrior, but they also strive for it “something unique”.
During the interview, Howard also spoke about the four major cities in Starfield (New Atlantis will be the largest in Bethesda game history) and plans for additional content.
Starfield is being built for PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass (PC and Xbox). Judging by the registration page of the subscription service, the release should take place at the beginning of next year (officially it was about the first half).
