Valve has previously promised to release a special version of SteamOS 3 for use on regular computers, but the approximate release date for such an assembly has not yet been announced.

An unofficial build of SteamOS 3 that has been prepared and released includes the initial setup interface, the basic Deck UI interface, and the ability to switch to KDE desktop mode using the Vapor theme and power consumption settings.

Full OS support is currently only provided by AMD for systems with a pre-installed GPU that support the Vulkan and VDPAU APIs. Additional settings are required to run on systems with NVIDIA and Intel GPUs.

In addition, AMD FSR technology (FidelityFX Super Resolution) is already supported for systems with AMD graphics cards.
