Stand still or take a step forward? The blogger showed how much the graphics in God of War Ragnarok have changed compared to the previous part

Spanish game technical analysis blogger ElAnalistaDeBits published a video on his YouTube channel comparing graphics in God of War Ragnarok and God of War (2018).

For comparison, ElAnalistaDeBits chose the releases of the current year – the PS5 version of God of War Ragnarok and God of War, launched with maximum settings on a PC with an i9-12900K, RTX 3080 and 32 GB RAM (DDR5).

The main graphical change in God of War Ragnarok compared to the previous part was improved lighting (especially indirect), which simulates the behavior of light rays more believably (there is no ray tracing in the game).

In addition, God of War Ragnarok developers improved snow deformation and screen space reflections and implemented tessellation, which contributed to more surface detail.

Among other things, God of War Ragnarok updated character models and effects (increased particle details) and also changed the physics of some objects (tree branches can now be knocked down with ax throws).

From the ElAnalistaDeBits video we can conclude that God of War Ragnarok has not turned out to be a graphic revolution compared to the previous installment, but the game offers many different changes and technical improvements.

God of War Ragnarok is expected to be released on PS4 and PS5 the day after tomorrow, November 9th. The media welcomed the game with enthusiasm (94% on Metacritic) and referred to the technical implementation on PS5, among other things. Everything is good on PS4 too, but not so good.
