Microsoft and Square Enix have been promising to release Final Fantasy XIV Online on Xbox consoles since 2019, and in the summer of 2023 that promise began to take shape.
From the festival stage Final Fantasy XIV Fan Fest 2023which runs from July 28 to 29 in Las Vegas, development manager Naoki Yoshida (Naoki Yoshida) announcedFinal Fantasy XIV will be coming to Xbox Series X and S in Spring 2024.
Open beta testing will begin as part of the release of the 6.5 series of patches. They promise crossplay, accelerated downloads, and 4K support (Xbox Series X only). As with other platforms, the release will be entirely digital.
Among other things, the festival presented the next big addition to Final Fantasy XIV – Dawntrail. The addon will be released in summer 2024 and will send players to a new world, the tropical land of Tural.
Dawntrail brings a new story, side quests, locations, professions, dungeons, a level cap increase to 100, and the first-ever graphics upgrade and higher system requirements (see below).
The upgrade also includes a free trial of Final Fantasy XIV Online. Patches starting with the 6.5 series will add all content from the Stormblood expansion, including the Red Mage and Samurai professions.
