Spotify now has more than 100 million regular podcast listeners, ten times more than in 2019. Since 2019, more than half a billion people have listened to at least one podcast on the platform. Spotify offers over 5 million podcast shows to listeners in over 170 countries.
To make podcasts more convenient for listeners, the platform is actively introducing new features. One of the new features is episode transcripts: the text is automatically generated, synchronized with the sound and can be viewed in full screen mode. Spotify has promised to add transcripts to several million episodes in the coming weeks.
The platform has implemented the function of dividing podcasts into chapters and now expands it – you can view a full list of sections for each episode. The record on the podcast page has been expanded: before listening to an episode, you can view detailed information about it. In the coming weeks, when you select the About tab, you’ll see descriptions, images, and creator recommendations for individual episodes. The platform also recommends other similar podcast shows in a separate tab.
