It has been revealed that total retail and digital store Nintendo eShop sales of Splatoon 3 in Japan surpassed 3.45 million units in the first three days since its premiere.

The result achieved by Splatoon 3 was a record for Nintendo – no other Nintendo Switch game in the home region sold in such a large volume in such a short time.

For comparison, Japanese sales of the original Splatoon amounted to only 156,610 copies in the first days of its release, while Splatoon 2 surpassed its predecessor by four times in three days – 670,955 copies.

Debuting exclusively on Nintendo Switch on September 9th, Splatoon 3 surpassed previous rates not only in sales in Japan but also in Metacritic results: 84% vs. 81% at the first game 83% at the second time.
