Sony began selling the PlayStation 5 Slim in the US and Europe

The updated Sony PlayStation 5 Slim console is available in the US and Europe. The new product is available at the company’s official online stores as well as major retailers. The console goes on sale in the UK on November 29th. What’s noteworthy is that this is the first time Sony has officially used the word “slim” to denote the new version of the console – previously it was simply referred to as the new version of the PS5.

The PlayStation 5 Slim gaming console with removable drive is on sale for $499.99. Sony offered the regular PS5 for the same price and is now also offering a game bundle from the original disc version of the PlayStation 5 with the game Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Additionally, for a limited time, you can purchase Sony PlayStation 5 Slim game bundles with Call of Duty Modern Warfare III or Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for the same price of $499.99. The PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition is not yet available.

The dimensions of the new PS5 Slim are 358 × 216 × 96 mm, while the previous original version had these parameters of 390 × 260 × 104 mm. The new PS5 Slim Digital Edition, in turn, has dimensions of 358 × 216 × 80 mm, while the dimensions of its predecessor are 390 × 260 × 92 mm. The weight of the updated console has been reduced by 18% for the regular PS5 and by 24% for the PS5 Digital Edition without a disc drive. We would like to remind you that the drive is removable, so buyers of the PS5 Slim Digital Edition can purchase an additional drive and side panel in the future.

The PlayStation 5 Slim and PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition models received a larger solid-state drive. Its volume has increased from 825 GB to 1 TB. A second USB-C port has appeared on the front panel of the set-top boxes instead of USB-A. Otherwise, the technical specifications of the PlayStation 5 Slim and PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition remain unchanged. The set-top boxes use a 6nm eight-core AMD processor with eight Zen 2 cores (16 threads, up to 3.5 GHz) and RDNA 2 graphics with 36 execution units with a frequency of 2, 23 GHz and 16 GB shared CPU and GPU RAM GDDR6 memory.

For the PlayStation 5 Slim, the company offers the separate purchase of a stand to install the console vertically for $29.99. In previous versions of the console, the stand was included in the package.
