According to CAICT, 39.6 million smartphones were sold in January 2021. Deliveries are even lower than last December, when 32.7 million copies were sold in the country. Smartphone makers are struggling to launch new models mainly due to a global shortage of chips.

Accordingly Reutersa number of factors, most notably a misjudgment of demand, as well as unexpected factory shutdowns and the economic conflict between the US and China, have led to the country registering a shortage of microchips for the automotive industry.

In addition, the problem has spread to other areas and chip types, as well as all types of hardware, including smartphones. In addition, one of the reasons for the drop in demand for new devices is the reluctance of consumers to update electronics too often, which has recently been often noted by analysis companies.
