At a meeting with investors, Ubisoft recalled the lengthy development of the pirate adventure Skull & Bones and confirmed that the game will be released in the next fiscal year (starting in calendar year April 2022). She also confirmed the direction of the project – first of all, it is a multiplayer game.
Skull & Bones has been pushed back countless times. The game was announced back in 2017. Speaking to investors, Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet gave an update on the game’s new direction following its internal reboot in 2020.
The project relies on multiplayer competitions and cooperative play in a large open world with fantasy elements. “Of course, the game took a long time to develop, but we are very happy with the artistic direction and progress of the game.”he added.
When it was announced, Skull & Bones was described as a game in which you can explore the Indian Ocean, either with friends or alone (in a single-player campaign). But in 2020, a VGC source said Ubisoft restarted development on the project and made it a service game. What the game is now is not known for certain, but previously it was planned to be filled with quests, characters, and storylines that will evolve and change over time depending on the collective actions of the community.
As reported by insider Tom Henderson (Tom Henderson), Skull & Bones will have survival elements, as well as the ability to gather resources and build your own ship.
