Officially, SK Hynix started mass production of 24GB LPDDR5X memory chips in November 2022. Today’s announcement reveals the company’s production plans and makes it possible to do so on the back of yesterday’s announcement of the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro 2 smartphone with 24GB of RAM. In addition to OPPO, other smartphone manufacturers will also receive new memory, the names of which SK Hynix has not yet announced.
The manufacturing process used to manufacture 24GB LPDDR5X microcircuits is based on the High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) method, known from the production of central processors, which uses thin insulating films with high dielectric constant metal gate transistors. This reduces leakage current and leads to a reduction in power consumption while increasing operating speed. According to SK hynix, this is the world’s first mobile DRAM to be released with HKMG process technology.
The 24 GB LPDDR5X chips operate in the 1.01 to 1.12 V extra-low voltage range specified by the Joint Electronic Devices Engineering Committee (JEDEC) and are capable of processing 68 GB/s, which corresponds to the transmission of 13 FHD Movies (Full HD) corresponds to . ) in one second.

Along with MediaTek platforms, the new ultra-fast memory will find application in access points and in other applications where speed is important. However, this will have to wait a while, because the LPDDR5T memory and its characteristics have not yet received the final support of the JEDEC committee in the form of new specifications or additions to the LPDDR5 standard.
