Since 2016, Google has sold almost 40 million Pixel smartphones, up from 10 million last year

Last week, Google introduced the new generation of Pixel smartphones – Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. According to analysts, sales of smartphones under the Google Pixel brand amounted to almost 40 million units, which is a great success for the company, which significantly increased sales last year, the resource writes 9to5Google.

Francisco Jeronimo, IDC vice president of data and analytics, reported The social network That’s not much compared to Apple, which is estimated to sell more than 224 million iPhones per year. However, Google Pixel sales are growing steadily.

Geronimo noted that the brand doubled smartphone shipments in the first year, reaching 4 million units. By 2019, it had increased its sales and sold a record number of smartphones that year – 7.2 million units. Last year, Google approached the 30 million Google Pixel sales mark: shortly before the launch of the Pixel 7, 27.6 million smartphones were sold. That means 10 million Google Pixels were sold in the last 12 months, which is a new brand record.

9to5Google found that Google is actively gaining momentum in smartphone sales in the United States and, last year, in Japan, while sales of Android smartphones from other vendors are declining. In July it was announced that Japan had become the largest market for Google Pixel smartphones, and soon after it was reported that the company’s smartphones were taking market share away from the iPhone in the country. Google is also the only smartphone brand whose shipments in North America did not decline compared to last year.
