Speaking to shareholders at Samsung headquarters, Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee was quick to apologize for the improper operation of the flagship Galaxy S22. As it turned out, specialized software slows down the smartphone, constantly keeping the activity in the background.
According to recent reports, the Game Optimizing Service (GOS), which aims to automatically adjust smartphone performance to avoid overheating and save battery power, wasn’t as useful as expected.
The problem is that the function turned out to be impossible to disable and often slowed down the smartphone even when it was not needed. “I would like to apologize again for misunderstanding the feelings of the users”said Khan speaking to shareholders.
Although the company has touted the Galaxy S22 as a flagship performance smartphone, the GOS app running constantly in the background slows down games and some apps that have nothing to do with games at all, including Samsung’s system software.
Some tests have shown that the Galaxy S22 with GOS is only half as productive as claimed. In response to numerous complaints from users, Samsung had to release an update that fixes the problem. A Samsung representative promised to pay more attention to the wishes of customers in the future.
