It was previously reported that Samsung will launch new foldable smartphones earlier than usual, but an exact date has not been announced. Now, South Korean edition of Chosun has announced that the flagship devices Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be launched on July 26 and sales will start on August 11.

According to the report, the Galaxy Unpacked event, where the South Korean company will announce the said smartphones, will be held in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, and not in the US as before. The source points out that the reason behind the earlier announcement of foldable smartphones is the slowdown in Samsung’s semiconductor business. Against this background, the company wants to try to improve its financial position by launching flagship devices earlier.
Additionally, the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in July means that foldable smartphones will launch well ahead of the iPhone 15, which is expected to launch in September. Such a gap is likely to help Samsung realize more flagship devices. This allows the company to partially compensate for the development of the previous two weak quarters (according to the results of the first three-month segment, the company reported the lowest operating profit in 14 years).
