Rumours: Big budget horror in the alien universe has been entrusted to the developers of No More Heroes and Lollipop Chainsaw

Verified insider Tom Henderson citing his own sources uncovered a studio working on the survival horror marathon (codename) set in the alien universe.

According to Henderson’s informants, Grasshopper Manufacture, a Japanese studio owned by Chinese company NetEase Games, is working on Marathon.

In August 2021, Goichi Suda, CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture, spoke about five projects in development at the studio. There is a good chance that Marathon will be one of them.

Marathon is reportedly positioned as a big-budget project (AAA) for release on current-gen consoles in late 2023. The game is inspired by horror franchises like Dead Space and Resident Evil.

Alongside Marathon, a sequel to Creative Assembly’s cult-but-not-too-successful horror-horror Alien: Isolation could be in development (or publisher approval stages), according to Henderson.
