Rumors: Ubisoft is developing a 2D Prince of Persia with the participation of the creator of the series

In the latest episode of the XboxEra podcast, its host Nick Baker, better known as Shpeshal Nick, shared another batch of rumors. He revealed that Ubisoft is currently developing a new 2D game in the Prince of Persia series. Its production was allegedly joined by the creator and mastermind of the franchise, Jordan Mechner.

According to Baker (in the video below at 1:37:00), he does not know what the project will be like. It can be either a full-fledged sequel, or a remake or remaster of one of the old parts of Prince of Persia. The insider also mentioned that the game is in its early stages of development and may well be canceled.

After the podcast, Baker shared another important detail regarding the upcoming project. He wrote in personal microblogging: “Continuing my rumors about 2D Prince of Persia. Apparently, Jordan Meckner is involved in the development. It’s very interesting if this is so ”

It’s important to note that Baker is positioning information about the next Prince of Persia as rumors. It should be taken with a certain degree of skepticism, despite the track record of an insider. For example, he previously correctly predicted Final Fantasy VII Remake on PlayStation Plus prior to the official announcement.

Ubisoft is also developing a remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, due in 2022.
