Recall that the development of the next Twisted Metal game was attributed to Lucid Game (Destruction AllStars), but recently the project was reportedly transferred to an in-house studio Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) in Europe.

According to VGC, we’re talking about Studio Firesprite, founded by immigrants from Studio Liverpool (owned by SIE before it closed), whose office is literally 15 minutes from Lucid Games.

It is noteworthy that at the beginning of January he moved from Lucid Games to Firesprite to the position of Head of Development Matt Southwho once led the development of several parts of MotorStorm.

Whether Southern has dealt with the new twisted metal as part of Lucid Games and whether he will do it now is unknown. Firesprite has several projects in the making, including the Horizon Call of the Mountain adventure for PlayStation VR2.

Firesprite was acquired by SIE in September 2021. The studio is known for the collection of mini-games The Playroom, the horror The Persistence and their VR versions. Several employees have also gained experience with wipeout and Formula 1.

As for the restart of Twisted Metal, despite the developer change, the Japanese platform owner still plans to schedule the release of the new part on the premiere of the television adaptation of the series in 2023.
