The experiment with Mass Effect: Andromeda was obviously unsuccessful, and in the next part of their space opera the developers from the BioWare studio can return to already well-trodden paths.

Windows Central editor Jez Corden on the current podcast “The Xbox Two”. missthat he had heard rumors about the development direction of the next, as-yet-untitled Mass Effect.
“I heard that Mass Effect is ditching the open world and going back to its classic format.”Corden said, adding that he cannot 100% guarantee the accuracy of this information.

The Mass Effect trilogy games were mostly linear, while Mass Effect: Andromeda introduced open-world elements. This and other aspects have been criticized by both players and critics.
Mass Effect: Andromeda performed so poorly (compared to previous games) that Electronic Arts even froze the series for a while. The “thaw” came in autumn 2020 with the official confirmation of the new part.

Since its announcement, the new Mass Effect has received few teasers and images, but a full presentation has not yet been received. The game is still in pre-production.
The next Mass Effect is expected to come after Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, another game in development at BioWare. Publication is awaited no earlier than summer 2024 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and S.
