portal Video Games Chronicle (VGC), citing its own informants, announced the decision of Sony Interactive Entertainment to switch studio developers for the revival of the arcade battle race series Twisted Metal.
Keep in mind that until recently (also with the filing of VGC) the development of the next twisted metal was attributed to Liverpool-based Lucid Games, best known for its multiplayer arcade racing game Destruction AllStars.
Now Sony has reportedly suspended Lucid Games from work and entrusted the game to its in-house studio in Europe. According to a VGC informant, the cool reception from Destruction AllStars contributed to this decision.
It is reported that despite the developer change, the Japanese platform owner plans to plan the release of the new Twisted Metal in time for the premiere of the TV adaptation of the series in 2023.
The games of the Twisted Metal franchise (the last one was released in 2012) tell the story of the death tournament of the same name, to which the best drivers from around the world are invited. The main prize is the fulfillment of all wishes.
