Rumors: One of the Intel partners refused to release Arc Alchemist graphics cards

According to the authoritative German publication Igor’s Lab, Intel’s discrete graphics accelerators face another problem. Referring to its sources, the resource reports that one of the company’s leading partners abandoned the production of video cards of this series in its performance.

Igor’s Lab does not say which Intel partner decided to stop producing graphics cards based on its GPU. However, it is reported that he made such a decision because he “doubted the quality of the product.”

It should be noted that by now, those wanting to release their own versions of Arc Alchemist accelerators can actually be counted on one hand. Only the entry-level Arc A380 is currently available on the market in the versions of the Chinese company Gunnir and the Taiwanese ASRock. At the same time, these graphics cards are only available in China. Leaks suggest that ASUS and MSI are also preparing their own variants of Intel Arc accelerators. However, they have not yet made any official statements.

Tom’s Hardware has reached out to Intel Graphics for comment to clarify the situation, but they have not yet responded to the request.

As mentioned above, only the junior model of the Arc Alchemist line, the Arc A380, is currently available for sale. Reviewers didn’t like the card. And they were not disappointed even by the performance of the novelty, which turned out to be inferior to all current competitors, but by the very poor optimization of their drivers. Intel software is unstable and does not always work as expected.

Rumors are multiplying on the web that the unstable operation of Intel graphics cards is not related to software, but allegedly to their architectural flaws, which are expressed at the hardware level. They also claim that Intel engineers are now in a hurry to fix everything and create updated versions of Arc Alchemist, a kind of Alchemist Refresh that might be released early next year. And in case of failure, the company can completely abandon the release of desktop gaming graphics cards and focus only on mobile cards and professional accelerators.

According to all official statements from Intel, the graphics are all right. Yes, there are shortcomings, but they will all be eliminated. For example, the same Raja Koduri, head of Intel’s graphics department, recently via Twitter reportedWhat “very confident [графической] corporate roadmap”. And yesterday Intel posted a video (above) about the upcoming Arc A750 accelerator. True, the company’s representatives in the video did not say anything new about the performance of this video card.
