According to MTN, Sony Interactive Entertainment has signed a deal with South Korean publisher and developer NCSoft (Lineage, Guild Wars) to create an MMORPG set in the Horizon universe.

Codenamed Project H in job listings, the project is said to be targeting a global audience and is part of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s initiative to expand its presence in the gaming services segment.

NCSoft has already commented on the situation. The company did not dispute the MTN information, but did state this “Difficult to confirm information about unreleased products in development”.

It was previously reported that Sony Interactive Entertainment-owned studio Guerrilla Games – the developers of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West – had long considered adding multiplayer to games in the series.

A co-op mode was reportedly planned for the original Horizon Zero Dawn, but was shelved for a standalone project. In September 2021, Guerrilla Games recruited for an online game.

The potential MMORPG isn’t the only Horizon franchise in the pipeline. In production is Horizon Call of the Mountain for PS VR2, a Netflix series, and reportedly a remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn for PS5.
