According to a report from a trusted source on Chinese social network Weibo, the sixth-generation iPad Air will be unveiled in October and will be the only update to the iPad family in 2023. About it writes Resource MacRumors.com.
“Only the iPad Air series will be updated this year” — says the source, who clarified that the presentation of the new product and updated versions of the iPad will take place in October “Mini and Pro will not be available this year.” As MacRumors.com noted, the message came from an account known for providing reliable information about Apple’s plans.
After this news appeared on the social network Weibo, Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman said in the latest episode of the podcast “The MacRumors Show” that an updated iPad Air with improved characteristics is in development and that the device apparently “soon”probably in October, which actually confirmed the Chinese source’s information.
Gurman believes there will be another announcement of Apple products in October, but expressed doubts that an entire event will be devoted to the presentation. He suggested announcing new products in a press release, as was the case with the MacBook Pro M2 Pro and M2 Max earlier this year.
Gurman said something “along the same lines” could happen in October. “I’m not sure they have enough money to bring people to Cupertino to watch a video of it during the presentation [iPhone 15]”, — he added.
Apple last updated the iPad Air in March 2022, adding an M1 chip, an updated 12-megapixel front camera with Center Stage support, a faster USB-C port, support for 5G networks, and new color options. It’s possible that the next-generation iPad Air will have an M2 chip like the iPad Pro, a Thunderbolt port, support for the Apple Pencil stylus, and new body color options.
