Rumors: Hangar 13 started development of a new part of Mafia

The project is reportedly being managed by Hangar 13’s Brighton office, whose general manager Nick Baynes has become the studio’s new head. Production is said to be in the early stages.

According to Kotaku, the new Mafia is codenamed Nero and is positioned as a prequel to the main trilogy: the original Mafia (and its remake), Mafia 2, and Mafia 3.

Additionally, according to Kotaku sources, the next mafia will be built on Unreal Engine 5. Remember that the latest versions of the series (Mafia: Definitive Edition, Mafia 2 Remake, Mafia 3) were based on the Mafia 3 engine.

Today, May 5, it was announced that its founder and longtime leader Haden Blackman had left Hangar 13. The developer stood at the origins of the studio in 2012.
