The new generation iPhone SE may not be released in 2024. informed Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who traditionally bases his forecasts on information from Apple suppliers. According to the expert, the company canceled plans to start production of a new affordable smartphone.
The analyst is certain that Apple has suspended work on a new device because the company’s low-cost models are selling worse than expected. There were also fears that the price hike across the lineup would make the iPhone SE less attractive to buyers for whom price is an important consideration. The refusal to release the budget iPhone model in 2024 will not come as a surprise: back in March last year, the Nikkei Asian Review, citing its own sources, reported that plans for the release of the third generation iPhone SE were reduced by 10 million became units – and that decision was made a few weeks after its announcement. There is not much information about the actual sales of the model, but if it really does not bring enough money, Apple may well slow down work on the new version.
However, this news might please Qualcomm, which makes 5G modems for the iPhone. The fact is that Apple is working on its own version of the component and planned to test it on the new iPhone SE, and then introduce its own modem to the main line. However, the company has not yet achieved great success in this direction, and the iPhone 16 model 2024 can again receive Qualcomm modems. And this is not Apple’s only recent failure: recently it became known that the company had to abandon ray tracing in A16 Bionic chips at the last moment – the graphics subsystem was consuming too much power and causing overheating.
