RPG Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be the culmination of the series, but not its conclusion

Keep in mind that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was positioned by the developers at Monolith Soft as the link and unifying element between the original Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

According to Takahashi, the three main Xenoblade Chronicles (excluding the more futuristic Chronicles X) use similar themes and gameplay ideas, making them a trilogy.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be the last part of the trilogy (in the thematic sense) and its climax, but Takahashi emphasized that there was no talk of an end to the series.

Takahashi called Xenoblade Chronicles 3 a semblance “Resume before the next step into the future”. At the same time, no familiarity with previous games in the series is required to understand the local history.

According to the plot of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, six soldiers on different sides of the barricades must go to Swordmach – a land pierced by a giant sword – to find out the truth about their nations’ conflict.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 launches tomorrow, July 29th, exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The profile press and editors at Digital Foundry did not disappoint with the latest creation from Monolith Soft.
