Qualcomm Technologies announced the creation of the European laboratory XR Labs Europe – a specialized center for research and development in the field of Extended Reality (XR).
It should be noted that Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies are currently developing rapidly in Europe. The establishment of a new lab will help implement advanced solutions in the mobile space, which will speed up the deployment of the Metaverses.
In the first phase, XR Labs Europe centers will be established in six cities. The spatial coverage is to be expanded in the future. The main goal of the initiative is to develop lightweight, portable devices for immersive virtual space.
The lab specialists will address developments related to technologies for improved tracking of hand movements and gestures. In addition, 3D mapping and image recognition tools, multi-user solutions, etc. are mentioned.
