Remember that Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 debuted on PS5, Xbox Series X and S last summer and received updates on PC with support for ray tracing and enhanced 3D sound.

In the case of RE7, RE2, and RE3 on Steam, the upgrade increased system requirements and impacted performance even without ray tracing, and was also irreversible. The DirectX 11 rollback option was added fairly quickly.

As has been announced, on July 12, 2023, Capcom will end support for the DX11 versions of Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 (dx11_non-rt option on the Beta tab in the game properties) on Steam.

“After the end of the technical support period, we can no longer guarantee compatibility or performance when using these versions of these games.”— Capcom notes in the release.

Resident Evil 7 debuted in January 2017, Resident Evil 2 Remake was released in January 2019, and Resident Evil 3 Reimagining was released in April 2020. All three games are available on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S.
