The three-minute video is called “Keepers of Time” and is dedicated to two characters – the creator of the reborn universe, the God of Fire, Liu Kang, and his old friend Geras, who returns from Mortal Kombat 11.

Geras is the immortal guardian of the hourglass, which regulates time and fate itself. In the video, fighter Liu Kang warns that his rebooted universe may already contain a fatal flaw.

The featured trailer contains fragments of Geras and Liu Kang’s gameplay, including their main moves and fatalities: the first wears down the enemy in a sandstorm, and the second creates a natural black hole in space.

Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat, too noticed on the fighter blinking at 1:51 in the video (see image below). It’s unclear who he is, and fans are stumped: The Cole Young option from the film is gone — he’s in the game will not be shown.

Viewers in the comments to the video were pleased with Geras’ appearance in Mortal Kombat 1 and were impressed by Liu Kang’s ability to create a black hole: “Probably the coolest death ever”counted Jean-Pierre Wehry.

Mortal Kombat 1 is expected to release on September 19th on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. The beta test for the pre-order fighting game will take place on PlayStation and Xbox from August 18th to 21st.
