Apple announced that pre-orders for the new compact MacBook Air laptop based on the Apple M2 processor will start on July 8, that is, the day after tomorrow. The company will begin shipping the novelty on July 15. Keep in mind that the laptop was introduced early last month.
The new MacBook Air 2022 has a 13.6-inch display with a brightness of 500 cd/m22 and a 1080p FaceTime webcam. The latter is located in the recess at the top of the screen. The laptop offers 8GB, 16GB or 24GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB to 2TB of permanent storage in the form of an NVMe SSD. The cooling system of the updated laptop is passive – there are no fans.
At the heart of the new MacBook Air is an eight-core Apple M2 processor that also includes up to 10 graphics cores (8-core GPUs in lower configurations). According to the company, the new version of the Apple M2-based laptop is up to 40% faster than the previous Air model based on the Apple M1 processor and up to five times faster than Air models based on Intel chips.
The MacBook Air 2022 features a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID in the power button. The laptop supports fast charging via the MagSafe connector, but you must purchase the appropriate adapter separately. A 30-watt charger is included with lower configurations. Older versions get 35-watt charging with two USB Type-C ports. The device’s battery offers a battery life of up to 18 hours. The new MacBook Air is just 11mm thick and weighs 1.22kg. The novelty offers two Thunderbolt (USB Type-C) ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The 2022 MacBook Air starts at $1199.
