Players have criticized Blizzard for the “sneaky design” of Diablo IV’s UI – several streamers have already fallen for the trick

Earlier in Diablo IV began the “season of plague” that brought with it the Battle Pass. The paid version was included in the extended and full editions. However, due to the peculiarities of the game interface, some players issued the bonus unintentionally.

The fact of the matter is, the Premium Battle Pass activation button is on the seasonal campaign tab, where players constantly check their progress and accidentally clicking on it is as easy as peeling pears.

That’s what happened to the streamers Rurikhan And Lycanthrope90, as well as a number of other users. Simultaneous confirmation of the transaction was not required – an accidental click led to the activation of the bonus.

However, according to Rurikhan, he was expecting to activate the Premium Battle Pass in one of the next seasons of Diablo IV “sneaky design” The game’s interface did not allow to fulfill the plan. Streamer called the whole situation “Fraud” by Blizzard.

Blizzard has done this before, through Community Engagement Lead Adam Fletcher assuredthat a future patch will not allow the cursor to be next to the activate button when switching to the default season tab.

The use of tricks or non-intuitive interface elements that encourage players to make unintended purchases is known as dark patterns and can result in fines of millions of dollars (see Epic Games).
