Devolver Digital and Doinksoft (Gato Roboto) at the Indie World Showcase in May announced a new joint project – Gunbrella pixel action in the punk noir genre.
In Gunbrella, players take on the role of a harsh lumberjack out for revenge. The hero will face off against ghouls and gangsters, cops and cultists, and also see what giant corporations are doing.
The protagonist is armed with the same mysterious “Gunbrella” – a firearm that doubles as an umbrella. It can also be used for gliding, swinging, sprinting and diving.
Gunbrella’s developers promise side-view combat, strange characters, a variety of locations (from a small town and a garbage dump to an almost mythical Avalon), pump-action weapons, and the ability to uncover supernatural mysteries.
Gunbrella is expected to be released on PC in 2023 (steam) and Nintendo Switch (eShop page). Doinksoft also has a retro shooter Demon Throttle (announced for the current year) in development that will be available at retail only.
