Phanteks introduced Revolt power supplies without cables – you have to buy them separately

Not everyone likes the standard power cords that come with power adapters. This is why there are companies in the market that sell custom made power cords and are willing to manufacture the right cord set for a specific PSU model. Because of this, Phanteks decided to launch a line of power supplies that don’t come with standard cables at all.

At Computex 2023, the manufacturer presented a range of Revolt power supplies. It includes models with power from 1000 to 1600 watts. All use Seasonic’s Vertex platform as a base and conform to the ATX 3.0 power supply standard.

As mentioned above, power supplies are supplied without complete cables. The required kit must be purchased separately, for example from CableMod, a company that specializes in making custom cables. When ordering, the buyer can specify the desired cable length, its shape (flat or braided) and color. CableMod will also sell pre-made power cord sets for Revolt power supply models. However, the cost of these kits is still unknown.

It should be made clear that high quality custom power cords are quite expensive. For example, a set of four power cables from CableMod – 24-pin for the motherboard, 8-pin EPS for powering the processor, two SATA and one 8-pin PCIe – costs $99. And there is a high probability that such a set will not be enough for a gaming computer.

For those who cannot or do not want to purchase power cables from CableMod, Phanteks has prepared two ready-made kits that also need to be purchased separately. The version with PCIe 5.0 cable costs $79. The full set (PCIe 4.0 and PCIe 5.0) costs $179. And that without a power supply.

The Revolt power supplies received suggested prices of $199, $249, and $349 respectively for the 1000W, 1200W, and 1600W versions. The 1000W and 1200W models will be available in white and black. The older 1600W model is only offered in black. All will go on sale in August.
