First, which was announced last February, the Nintendo Switch edition of Outer Wilds, once announced for late 2021, is still in development. The team underestimated the complexity of the project and were overly optimistic about the timing.
SecondlyOuter Wilds will be released on September 15 this year on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S. They promise a free upgrade from PS4 and Xbox One, 4K resolution and support for 60 frames/s. The announcement was accompanied by a trailer.
In the Outer Wilds story, players take on the role of a newcomer to the Outer Wilds Ventures space exploration program who must find answers to the mysteries of the solar system, which explodes every 22 minutes.
Outer Wilds debuted on PC (Epic Games Store) and Xbox One in May 2019. The game made it to PS4 in October 2019 and to Steam in June 2020. In September 2021, the Echoes of the Eye expansion was released for the project.
