Independent Polish studio CD Projekt RED continues to reveal additional information about the next installment in its The Witcher RPG series. This time the developers have commented on the teaser of the new game.

Keep in mind that the image released alongside the announcement shows a witcher’s medallion covered in snow. At first it was attributed to the Kota school (see below for why), but CD Projekt RED later disproved this assumption.

As it turns out, the medallion in the teaser belongs to the next The Witcher from the School of Lynx. This was confirmed by CD Projekt RED Director of International Communications Robert Malinowski (Robert Malinowski).

“Okay, some secrets don’t have to be so mysterious. I can confirm that the locket is indeed made in the mold [головы] Lynx”– quotes the Malinowski portal Eurogamer.

It’s worth noting that until recently, the Lynx school hasn’t appeared in either books or games in the Witcher series. In other words, this witcher direction does not exist in the franchise’s official canon. At least for now.

Where the School of Lynx has a presence is in fan art. For example, The Witcher Fanon website claims that the lynx school was built by the witcher Lambert and sorceress Keira Metz on the remains of a cat school.

The release dates and the list of target platforms for the new The Witcher are not announced at this time, but the engine is known – Unreal Engine 5. The game will be the beginning “new saga” for the franchise, dispensing with the four in the title.
