When it was announced in 2020, both journalists and regular gamers compared Avowed to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: a fantasy setting, a first-person perspective, a spell in one hand, a weapon in the other. But what will the new role-playing game from Obsidian Entertainment (KotOR 2, Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds) actually be?

Self-confessed head of development Carrie Patel Xbox Games Showcase expanded said the fantasy role-playing game will be closer to The Outer Worlds and the older Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords in its open-zone (not open-world) structure.
“[Avowed] consists of a series of interconnected open areas that players can explore at their own pace. You can invest in exploring every corner of the world to find all the secrets, quests, and characters, or you can have a more focused experience.Patel explained.
As admitted in a recent interview PC gamer Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart, the developers of Avowed were initially really focused on Skyrim, but over time they realized that every studio is good at something in their own way and that they should develop the game in their own style, not that one others.
Avowed is expected to be released in 2024 on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X and S, and Game Pass. The events of the game take place on the island of Living Lands, full of mysteries and dangers, in the world of Eora known from Pillars of Eternity. They promise the consequences of decisions made, companions and a wide range of weapons (swords, pistols, magic).
