Obsidian apologizes for the issues with The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, although it’s not his fault – the first patch is already in the works

portal Chronicle of Video Games noted that Obsidian Entertainment and Private Division commented on the issues buyers of The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition were facing.

As a reminder, Spacer’s Choice Edition is an enhanced version of Obsidian’s satirical role-playing game The Outer Worlds. Unlike many similar remasters, even the owners of the original The Outer Worlds have to pay for the re-release.

The undocumented “features” of Spacer’s Choice Edition – notably the terrible optimization (even consoles got them) – led to the project having “very negative” reviews on Steam (only 19% positive out of 254).

“I’m sorry you’re having performance issues with The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition. I understand how frustrating this can be and I assure you that the Private Division team is working to release a patch.”explained representatives of obsidian.

private department confirmed, which is working on an update of Spacer’s Choice Edition for PC and consoles. The patch will fix many graphics and performance issues. The full list of bug fixes will be released late next week.

It is worth noting that Spacer’s Choice Edition is not a project by Obsidian Entertainment, but by Private Division, which entrusted the development to the Chinese studio Virtuos, which in the past screwed up the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition was released on March 7th on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, GOG, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. The system requirements of the remaster were higher than those of the original game.
