On the eve of announcing a new series of GeForce RTX 4000 graphics accelerators, NVIDIA decided to entertain its audience with puzzles and riddles to stimulate interest in the upcoming event.
A week earlier, the company posted a graphic puzzle consisting of images of triangles on its Twitter page.
Curious users found out very quickly. It turned out that the number of triangles in the vertical columns is responsible for a specific letter in the English alphabet and indicates its serial number. As a result, the tip turned out to be a message from GeForce Beyond, relating to the event of the same name that NVIDIA will be holding on September 20th.
Today a new mystery has emerged that represents it short videoshowing a computer desk, monitors and a table lying on the table.
The table is a diagram of an algorithm for computing Bernoulli numbers. It was developed in 1843 by English mathematician Ada Lovelace for an analysis machine designed by British mathematician Charles Babbage. Lovelace compiled the world’s first program for this machine, introducing the terms “cycle” and “work cell”. And she is considered the first female programmer in history. By mentioning the table above, NVIDIA indirectly confirmed the rumors that the new graphics architecture of the GeForce RTX 40 series gaming graphics cards will be called Ada Lovelace.
Some users also noticed a note posted on one of the monitors in the video. The sticker contains some numbers that one has speculated could point to the characteristics of the older AD102 GPU that powers the flagship GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card.
For example, the number 629 can indicate the area of the GPU die, which will be 629 mm2, 7538, in turn, can indicate the number of transistors in the GPU – 75.38 billion. But there are no convincing guesses about the very first number. However, some people think that this indicates a 2.08x performance increase of the AD102 chip compared to the GA102 (which is used in the GeForce RTX 3090).
According to the latest rumors, next week NVIDIA will only introduce three new generation graphics cards: GeForce RTX 4090, GeForce RTX 4080 with 16 GB memory and GeForce RTX 4080 with 12 GB memory. At the same time, we should expect that only the flagship accelerator will appear on sale in October.
