NVIDIA has officially introduced the new version of the GeForce RTX 3080 – 12 GB of RAM, more cores and higher TDP

NVIDIA has officially presented the graphics accelerator GeForce RTX 3080 with 12 GB of RAM. The card is based on the GA102-220 GPU, an improved version of the GA102-200 chip found in the original GeForce RTX 3080 with 10 GB of memory. The new card will not be published in the NVIDIA Founders Edition reference.

The GPU GA102-220 contains 8960 CUDA cores. Remember that the previous version of the 10GB memory card had 8704 cores. In addition, the new processor received 70 RT cores and 280 tensor cores. The maximum specified GPU frequency of the new card compared to the original model has not changed and is 1710 MHz. Base reduced to 1.26 GHz. The 10 GB version has a base frequency of 1.44 GHz.

The card received 12 GB GDDR6X memory with an effective frequency of 19 GHz, 384 bit bus width and a maximum bandwidth of 912 GB / s. The memory bandwidth of the GeForce RTX 3080 with 10 GB GDDR6X is 760 GB / s (the memory is slower and the bus narrower). The stated power consumption of the GeForce RTX 3080 model with 12 GB memory is 350 W, which is 30 W higher than the model with 10 GB memory.

The manufacturer does not mention the recommended price of the GeForce RTX 3080 with 12 GB of memory. Accelerator sales have already started. It had previously been reported that a novelty was found in a non-reference version at a price of around 1,700 euros.
